• Welcome to the new Dig It blog!

Hello, I'm Rebecca, founder of Dig It, Head Gardener and Allotment Project Coordinator (and generally very busy bee right now!) I'm going to try and use this blog to let you know what is happening with Dig It right now and share anything I think is fun, interesting or amusing :0)

Things are hugely busy in the world of Dig It right now as, after 6 months of hard work by me and the Walden in Transition Community Allotment Group (Hi Gay, Vivian, Mary, Steve, Ginny, Nikki, Liz and Gordon) and lots of help and encouragement from Pat and Lizzie at the Volunteer Centre and not forgeting Chris Hingston (of more or less everything in Walden!) we are finally about to launch the volunteer program at the Crocus Fields allotment site!

In preparation for the launch I've been dashing round town talking to anyone I think might be interested in helping us out with some materials so when the volunteers turn up we've got something for them to use, plant and do! So far I've had some seeds and organic fertilizer from Roger at R&R Saggers, a promise of some compost, tools and other sundries from David at Springwell Nursery and Hugh and Andy at Ridgeons have asked for a list of what we want and seem very keen to help :0) So all it all it's all going very well and I'm very excited to get on site next month and start putting all the plans into practise!

The volunteer program will be officially launched on Monday 3rd of October but you can register to volunteer at the allotment now just go to out contact page and fill in your details or give me a bell!

    Happy Gardening,
